Exclusive stand up
paddle Board with
paddlers will perform a beach start styled the Le Mans way, daring the open
Atlantic Ocean, the race will start on Saturday November 19th
battling through the Masonboro Inlet straits navigating through the channels
behind the Island Masonboro before reaching the victory line for the North
California to Sound challenge.
A flat water completion, for an
immediate paddler, will board form the beach on the sound side and traverse
deep water channels and canals for around four miles encompassing
Wrightsville’s Harbor Island. At the event various stand up paddle boards from
different stand up paddle board
manufacturers like Elixirboardco.com will be on display and the event
will also feature stand
up paddle board for sale.
Both the races promise great
spectator events, surf and sound and will takeoff from the Blockade Runner
Beach Resort. Registration fee is $60 and will include welcome reception, on
November 18th and entry into one of the race either elite or
immediate, the awards ceremony is scheduled on November 19th
Saturday. Cash prizes will be awarded to the first male and female participant
who finishes the Surf to Sound Challenge. Prize of each class will be awarded
in both the events.
Also featured on the event is the
Waterman’s Expo on Saturday from 12 noon to 6 p.m., the water expo will
display, free open public event, will showcase the local retailers specializing
in stand-up paddle boards, kayaking, surf, sailing and fishing merchandise
equipment and outer wear. Demonstrations of advanced paddle techniques and fly
castings by some on the noted stand up paddle board manufacturers, included.
The proceeds and stand up paddle
boards sale will be given by the stand up paddle board manufacturer to
Masonboro, a nonprofit that braces the co-existence of human recreation and
wildlife habitats in the island located between the Wrightsville Beach and
Carolina Beach in the Southeastern parts of North Carolina.
